Midwinter Activities These activities are planned, but not carved in stone. If you have something you want to add to this, contact the Autocrat staff. Captain of the Guard Every year at Midwinter, Their Excellencies of Caer Galen choose a new Captain of the Guard (Rapier Edition). To that end, there will be a rapier tournament at Midwinter. By tradition, this tournament includes a rigorous trial by combat. Also playing into their Excellencies' decision will be an element of poetry. This allows the new Captain to prove him/herself a true courtier, and not just a mindless thug. Details will be at Their Excellencies' whim. Arts and Sciences Every year at Midwinter, the fabulous Artisans of the Barony display their work, their wares, their techniques, and their documentation. There is usually a theme and a prize, as determined by Their Excellencies, but the idea here is to share, show off, and educate, not to compete. Harp Election The Harp of Caer Galen is the single highest honor Caer Galen can bestow. It is given by the people of Caer Galen, not the coronet nor the crown. You are the people! Join the voting: Get a piece of paper, write the name of the person who brought YOU the most magic in Caer Galen on it, and put it in the slot. It's that simple! See the Harp page for more!
